The College of Wooster's women's swimming and diving team improved its dual meet record to 5-1 with a closely-contested 153-138 victory over Westminster (Pa.) College, while the Fighting Scot men came up short, 171-117, on Saturday at New Wilmington, Pa.

Eight different women contributed a first-place finish for the Scots, including Morgan Hughes and Courtney McGovern, who were each part of two winning relays and two individual victories.

Hughes, McGovern, and Jillian Saccogna were constants in Wooster's triumphs in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.91) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:42.26), with Alexandra Desotelle joining them in the former, and Jamie Hibbs in the latter.

Individually, Hughes touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (25.47) and 100 butterfly (1:00.21), while McGovern swept the backstroke events with times of 1:01.17 in the 100 and 2:13.28 in the 200.

Others to win in individual competition were Sarah Litt in the 200 fly (2:15.49), Anna McGlade in the 500 free (5:30.23), Saccogna in the 100 free (55.63), and diver Theresa Spadola in the three meter (153.00).

Aaron Brown was a standout on the men's side, as he edged out his nearest challenger in the 50 free (22.72) by six-tenths of a second, and also won the 100 free in 50.66. In addition, he teamed with Conner Gelwicks, Zackary Pool, and Avery Wilson to take the 400 free relay (3:24.67), as the team came in about six seconds ahead of the runner-ups.

Also noteworthy, diver Aaron Salzman picked up first-place points in both the one meter (239.50) and three meter (244.00) events. Rounding out the leaders were Brian Maddock, who took second in three events – the 100 back (53.68), 200 back (2:00.17), and 400 IM (4:27.87) – and Pool, who earned second-place honors in the 100 fly (55.47) and 200 fly (2:03.58).

The Scots will take some time off before returning to competition, when they host their annual Wooster Invitational on Dec. 4-6.
