Fresh off its annual winter break training trip in Florida, The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams resumed regular dual-meet competition with a resounding sweep of fellow North Coast Athletic Conference foe Ohio Wesleyan University, as the Fighting Scots won 161-121 (men) and 168-94 (women) on Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.

Wooster's Brian Maddock headlined the men's meet with three individual victories. He swept the backstroke events, touching the wall more than five seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in both the 100 (54.24) and 200 (2:02.84). Maddock, who also helped the 200 medley relay to first-place (1:38.53), was eight-plus seconds clear of the rest of the field in winning the 400 IM (4:25.14).

Other doublewinners were Evan Hagedorn, the meet's top breaststroker with times of 1:00.78 in the 100 and 2:14.78 in the 200, and Aaron Salzman, who headed the diving competition by scoring 226.35 and 221.85 on the one- and three-meters, respectively.

Rounding out the Scots' victories, Zackary Pool earned top honors in the 200 butterfly (1:59.05), and in the 100 fly, James Love (54.10) edged Pool (54.19).

Wooster's women's team, ranked 13th nationally in the latest collegeswimming.com rankings, demonstrated its depth, as seven different Scots finished first in individual races.

Five of them were multi-event winners – Alexandra Desotelle, Morgan Hughes, Colleen Kill, Anna McGlade, and Theresa Spadola. Desotelle, a breaststroker, swept her specialty with a 1:10.56 in the 100 and 2:25.47 in the 200; Hughes sprinted to the wall first during the 50 freestyle (25.26) and the 100 fly (1:00.16); Kill recorded the competition's fastest times in the 200 fly (2:21.42) and 400 IM (4:57.03); McGlade was the middle distance freestyle leader via times of 2:03.25 in the 200 and 5:23.85 in the 500; and Spadola added to the Scots' team total as the lone diver, scoring 124.40 on the one- and 162.90 on the three-meter.

Additionally, Holly Hickman and Jillian Saccogna picked up first-place finishes in the 100 back (1:04.54) and 100 free (55.69), respectively.

Wooster continues its dual-meet schedule next weekend with competitions against the University of Mount Union on Friday and Albion College on Saturday.
