In its final tune-up before the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, The College of Wooster's swimming and diving teams swept past Allegheny College, as the men won 163-116 and the women were 165-129 victors, in dual meet action Saturday afternoon at Meadville, Pa.

Wooster was nearly perfect in duals against its five NCAC opponents this season, sweeping Allegheny, Hiram College, Oberlin College, and Ohio Wesleyan University and splitting with rival Wittenberg University.

The men's team received a strong effort from Brian Maddock, as he won three individual events and led off the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.86), along with teammates Evan Hagedorn, James Love, and Aaron Brown. Individually, the senior standout won his signature events, the 100 backstroke (53.24) and 200 backstroke (1:59.79), and he also added a triumph in his latest undertaking, the 200 IM (2:01.79).

Hagedorn won twice in individual competition, as he swept the breaststroke events in times of 1:01.70 in the 100 and 2:16.24 in the 200, with the latter time more than nine seconds faster than his closest challenger from Allegheny.

Other winners for the Scots were diver Aaron Salzman in the one-meter (249.90) and three-meter (249.00) diving events, although he did not face competition, while Love chipped in a victory in the 100 butterfly when he touched the wall in 55.27.

The women's team also won nine of 16 events, including the first event of the meet, the 200 medley relay, as Holly Hickman, Alexandra Desotelle, Morgan Hughes, and Jillian Saccogna teamed up for a first-place time of 1:54.91.

Later in the meet, Jamie Hibbs joined forces with Saccogna, Desotelle, and Hughes to take the top spot in the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.67).

In individual competition, Hughes was the only Scot to win twice, as she claimed the 200 freestyle (2:00.36) and 100 butterfly (59.93). Others wins were Desotelle in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.49), Kaitlyn Fries in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.86), Colleen Kill in the 200 IM (2:19.24), Anna McGlade in the 500 freestyle (5:26.42), and Saccogna in the freestyle.

Wooster will be off formal competition for the next few weeks as it prepares for the biggest meet of the year, the NCAC Championships, which take place Feb. 12-14 at Granville, Ohio.
