The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams nearly swept a double dual at Olivet College on Saturday, with only a close 156-141 setback to Albion College's men's squad preventing a perfect day for the Fighting Scots in Olivet, Mich. Otherwise, Wooster's men's team dominated Olivet to the tune of 230-42 and the women swept Olivet and Albion by respective scores of 222-49 and 165-130.

It marked the end of the dual season for the Scots, as the women's team closed with an impressive 10-1 record and the men nearly matched each step of the way, finishing at 8-3.

The group of Sarah Litt, Alexandra Desotelle, Maggie Layde, and Emma Fikse opened the meet by giving Wooster a win in the 400 medley relay, as they teamed up for a 4:11.95 time.

Individually, Fikse earned a couple of first-place results, coming in the 100 backstroke (1:02.93) and the 500 freestyle (5:24.35), as did Desotelle, who paced the field in the 50 free (25.77) as well as the 200 breaststroke (2:34.78). Layde outstretched an Albion opponent at the wall in the 100 free, 56.80 to 56.83, while Litt led a 1-2-3 Scot finish in the 200 butterfly (2:18.90), with Lena Smith (2:21.61) and Kalla Sturonas (2:23.45) coming in next.

Also notable, Erin Drake grabbed first in the 100 breast (1:10.24) and was a close second to Desotelle in the 200 (2:35.42), and Sarah Padrutt won the 1650 free.

In diving, Morgan Day was a double winner, scoring 215.20 on the one-meter and 221.20 on the three.

The Scots opened the men's competition with a victory in the 400 medley relay, as Zackary Pool, Frayne Poeting, Conner Gelwicks, and Cameron Gelwicks joined forces for a time of 3:42.62.

Pool later won his specialty – the 200 fly – in fine form, as his 1:59.43 was about three seconds faster than the runner-up. He also took top honors in the 50 back (25.78), while Conner Gelwicks dominated the 100 back, winning by about five seconds with a 54.30 mark.

Cameron Gelwicks, Ryan Campbell, and Michael Crookshanks produced a 1-2-3 Wooster finish, respectively, in the 500 free with times of 5:02.42, 5:06.78, and 5:10.30, and teammate Andrew Pfeuffer raced to the wall first in the 50 breast (29.33).

The Scots will now make final preparations for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, to be held in Granville, Ohio, Feb. 11-13.
