Scots Split Versus Westminster in Final Prep Before Wooster Invite

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams split Saturday afternoon against Westminster College (Pa.), with the women defeating the Titans 180-114 and the men falling 192-102.

On the men's side, sophomore Trey Schopen and junior Cameron Gelwicks came away with two individual wins each. Schopen won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly in 53.83 and 2:02.01, respectively.

Gelwicks took the 200 freestyle in 1:45.84 before winning the 500 free in 5:02.09.

On the women's side, seven student-athletes won individual events in addition to Wooster's two winning relays.

Junior Emma Fikse took home individual first-place times in the 1650 free (18:30.57) and 100 free (55.66). First-year Lexi Riley-DiPaolo won the 200 free (2:01.73) and 500 free (5:28.74) and first-year Anne Bowers also claimed double-win honors with winning times in the 100 fly (1:01.01) and the 200 fly (2:14.91).

First-year Michelle Sayre won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.98 and classmate Brooke Brown won the 50 free in 25.77.

First-year Hannah Langer won the 200 back (2:13.74) while sophomore Alison Hsu won the 400 IM (4:54.04).

Taking part in the winning 200 medley relay (1:54.26) were Brown, Sayre, junior Rachel Mandel and first-year Leah Jorn. In the 200 free relay, the quartet of Bowers, Brown, Riley-DiPaolo, and Fikse won in 1:43.28.

Of note, Wooster took the top three times in six separate events.

Up next, the Scots host their home invitational Nov. 30-Dec. 2, with swimming events taking place at Wooster High School and diving at Timken Natatorium.
