Runner-Up Finish from Webster Headlines Wooster Contingent at CSU Invite

The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams competed at the non-scoring Charleston Southern University Spring Break Invitational, a two-day event with participants from institutions across all NCAA divisions, as part of the programs' spring training trip in Charleston, S.C.

The Fighting Scots put in a strong showing in a number of events, highlighted by a second-place finish from sophomore Carolyn Webster in the women's high jump (1.60 meters). In the 100-meter hurdles, the sophomore multi-event specialist went 16.67, good for 16th-place.

In other women's action, junior Mackenzie Kellar ran a 2:30.59 clip in the 800 meters to finish 15th, while fellow mid-distance runner Emani Kelley, a sophomore, trailed Kellar by just over a second to claim 18th-place with a time of 2:31.72.

Finishing in 15th- and 16th-place respectively in the 1500 were first-year Cobi Warstler (5:13.11) and junior Ashley Ferguson (5:14.50). Representing the Scots in the discus was Kassady Murphy, with the sophomore thrower recording a best try of 22.81 meters.

On the men's side, sophomore Jack Petrecca cleared 1.80 meters in the high jump to claim fifth, on top of a 21st-place effort in the 800 (2:06.78). Competing alongside Petrecca was fellow classmate Brian Lief, who nearly cracked the two-minute mark with a 13th-place clip of 2:01.40.

In the throws, first-year Spencer Wilson placed 11th in the shot put (12.19 meters), 13th in the discus (37.18) and 16th in the hammer throw (37.52). Fellow first-year Justin Robinson competed in the shot, claiming 12th-place with a best try of 12.02.

In the 1500, sophomore Jackson Feinknopf ran a top-15 clip of 4:12.79, while first-year Austin Hamlett broke the :53 mark in the open 400 with a time of 52.54.

The Scots resume action on Friday, March 31 as they get set to host the two-day Wooster Invitational, with field events commencing at 3 p.m. on Friday followed by running events at 4 p.m.
