2018-19 NCAC Academic Roll Honorees
The College of Wooster had a school record 106 student-athletes qualify for the 2018-19 North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll, which was released by the league office on Thursday morning.
To be honored, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore on an active roster in a sport sponsored by the NCAC and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Wooster's 106 honorees marked an improvement of 22 student-athletes from the 2017-18 NCAC Academic Honor Roll, and it's the first time the College has had over 100 student-athletes qualify. Previously, Wooster had 89 honorees on the inaugural NCAC Academic Honor Roll (2013-14) and led the conference with 89 qualifiers for the 2014-15 academic year. In total, 520 Wooster student-athletes have received recognition in the six-year history of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.
Of the Fighting Scots' contingent, 46 were sophomores, followed by 31 juniors and 29 seniors. Women's soccer and women's track & field led the way with 12 honorees apiece, while women's lacrosse, women's swimming & diving, and men's track & field had 10 each. Other sports with at least six honorees included men's cross country, women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's lacrosse, and volleyball.
On an individual level, men's swimming alumnus Ryan Campbell headlined the Black and Gold's academic achievements this past year with his election to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team.
Noteworthy, Wooster had the second-most honorees among the 10 NCAC institutions and one affiliate. Kenyon College's 110 honorees led the way, while in total, 774 student-athletes were honored across the conference.
