Wooster Finishes Third in NCAC All-Sports Standings

Meghan Wright, Alex DeLong, Seven Townsel, Patrick Johnson The College of Wooster claimed third-place in the North Coast Athletic Conference's Dennis M. Collins All-Sports Trophy standings, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning. Wooster finished the year with 143 points.

Wooster, a five-time winner (1984-85, 1986-87, 1987-88, 1994-95, 1996-97) of the NCAC All-Sports Trophy, logged 13 top-five finishes for the 2021-22 academic year, headlined by men's basketball, women's soccer, men's indoor track & field, and women's indoor track & field claiming NCAC runner-up honors. Wooster's women's indoor track & field team's finish marked the program's highest since 1997, while the men's indoor track & field team logged its top showing since 1998. Men's basketball, which logged its 33rd-straight full season with at least 18 wins, advanced to the championship game of the NCAC Tournament, while women's soccer made its third straight NCAC Tournament title match appearance.

Elsewhere, women's golf captured third-place at the NCAC Championships, tying for the program's highest-ever conference finish and the top mark for the Fighting Scots since the team's debut season in 2011. Women's cross country took third-place for the program's highest-finish since 1998. Men's tennis logged its highest conference showing since 2007 by taking fourth-place in the NCAC Tournament, while volleyball, which placed fifth, made a postseason run to play in the NCAC Tournament title match for the first time since 1985.

Other top-five teams included baseball, women's lacrosse, softball, men's swimming & diving, and women's swimming & diving.

At the national level, baseball is making its 32nd appearance in the NCAA Div. III Regional Tournament this week, while swimming & diving first-year Ollie Bream, track & field senior Claudia Partridge, and track & field sophomore Dylan Garretson were individual qualifiers for the NCAA Div. III Championships.

Denison University won its league-leading 18th all-sports trophy with 190.5 points, while DePauw University was the runner-up with 165.5 points.

Wooster's third-place showing marked the highest since the Scots were the runner-up for the 2018-19 school year.
