Bio

Kevin Smith is in his 10th year at The College of Wooster and his ninth leading the College's athletic communication efforts. In his role, Smith is responsible for delivering a comprehensive plan covering all aspects of publicizing the College’s 23-team NCAA Div. III athletics program and plays a key role in providing engaging content for the athletics website, the main athletic department social media channels, and the media. Smith's title was elevated to assistant athletic director of communications in January 2025.

Smith’s work has received national visibility since his arrival on campus. He coordinated numerous nominations for Patrick Mohorcic ’18, who was voted team captain of the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, was twice featured on ESPN, and was a finalist for the prestigious Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. At Wooster, Smith has promoted one national player of the year, 15 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients, 16 College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans®, two American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove winners, and All-Americans in 10 sports.

Prior to Wooster, Smith successfully promoted a CSC Academic All-American® of the Year and a Fred Mitchell Award finalist during his two years as a graduate assistant at John Carroll University. He also interned all four years in the sports information office at the University of Louisville, where he worked closely with the Cardinals’ football, volleyball, women’s lacrosse, and men’s golf programs, in addition to supporting numerous ESPN broadcasts in a variety of roles. 

Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in sport administration from Louisville in 2013 and a master’s degree in communications management from John Carroll in 2015.
