Tayla Thome

Tayla Thome joined The College of Wooster's sports medicine staff on August 1, 2023, and is the primary athletic trainer for field hockey, volleyball, swimming & diving, and baseball.

Thome arrived in Wooster from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. There, Thome worked closely with the Blugold's football, softball, women's soccer, and women's basketball teams while earning a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's in athletic training. Thome enhanced her skillset through a strength and conditioning apprenticeship at Eau Claire and spent summer of 2022 as an intern with the Cleveland Guardians. That led to an invitation to assist with spring training as an athletic trainer at the Guardians' minor league camp.

A Div. III student-athlete, Thome was a gymnast and earned Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholar All-America honors every year. The team captain was a state qualifier in 2017, a four-time district qualifier, and three-time first-team all-county performer at Buckeye High School, located about 45 minutes north of Wooster's campus.

Thome earned board certification and Ohio licensure in 2023.
