The College of Wooster used a pitching gem from Josh Stidham, Tanner Hall, and Matt DeGrand to key one win and a 15-run explosion from its offense for another, as the Fighting Scots completed their weekend in northwestern Pennsylvania with a 2-1, 15-8 sweep of Penn State Behrend on Sunday at Erie, Pa.

Wooster (20-6), which split a pair of pitcher's duels at Allegheny College Saturday, was involved in another low-scoring affair to start Sunday. After Penn State Behrend (15-9) plated a run in the bottom of the first off Stidham, the Scots provided just enough support for the pitching staff, as Matthew Johnson and Zack Vesco rapped out two hits apiece, with Vesco and Michael DeBord each providing an RBI.

Stidham went the first four innings, allowing the one run on four hits, and Hall yielded just one hit in a scoreless fifth, eventually earning the win (1-0). DeGrand held the Lions off the board through the last two innings, despite giving up three hits and two walks, for the save.

Sunday's nightcap was a completely different story. The two offenses combined for 13 runs in the very first inning, first Wooster putting up an eight spot and then Penn State Behrend five. Neither starting pitcher got out of the first.

The Scots tacked on three more runs in the second to go ahead 11-5 and the Lions answered with two in the home half of the inning to make it 11-7. Finally, each team found a pitcher to settle in before Wooster put the game away by scoring twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh.

Johnson reached safely four times in five plate appearances during game two, doubling once and walking three times, and he wound up 3-for-6 with three RBI on the day.

Other offensive stars in the nightcap included Matt Groezinger, who was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI, Greg Van Horn, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a walk, and a stolen base, and Derek Wyman, who had the day's lone home run and three RBI.

Next for Wooster is a match-up with fellow top-five team, Heidelberg University (21-4), as the 'Berg visits Art Murray Field Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
