The College of Wooster rallied twice late in the second game to earn a split with Kenyon College, winning 5-3 after a 9-1 loss during Saturday's opener, as the squads wrapped up their four-game North Coast Athletic Conference East Division series in Gambier, Ohio.

With Wooster (10-6, 3-1 NCAC East) previously sweeping Friday's doubleheader, the visitors took three of the four games over Kenyon (12-6, 1-3 NCAC East).

Trailing 1-0 through seven innings of the nightcap, the Fighting Scots' rally started with pinch hitter Mike Ries drawing a walk and then Ryan Miner following with an infield single that removed Lord starter Mike Jeffers from the game. Jarrod Mancine greeted the reliever with an RBI single to left field, knotting the score.

Moments later, Wooster had the bases loaded with one out for the decisive at bat of the game up to that point. Billy Farrow came through on the 10th pitch he saw, delivering a two-run double into left-center for a 3-1 lead.

Kenyon battled back, manufacturing two runs during the bottom of the eighth to even the game, only to see the Scots score twice in the top of the ninth. Bryan Miller started the second rally with a one-out single and then Wooster took advantage of some defensive miscues. A throwing error on a Miner bunt allowed Miller to get all the way to third base, followed by an error on a pickoff attempt that scored Miller and sent Miner to third. Mancine plated Miner via a sacrifice fly.

Patrick Boyle worked through a leadoff walk and single during the bottom of the ninth inning to earn his first career save. The freshman lefty took the ball from Zach Klein, who picked up the win (1-1), while the Scots received a quality start on the mound from Matt Felvey as the junior right-hander went the first seven innings and yielded just the one run on four hits.

In the opener, Wooster was held to one hit by Josh Jacobvitz. The Scots actually took a 1-0 lead off of him without a hit during the first, as Mancine and John McLain started the day with hit by pitches and they brought the former around via an Eddie Reese sacrifice bunt and a Farrow sacrifice fly.

The lead did not last long, though, with the Lords striking for four runs in the bottom half of the first, one in the second, and two in the third en route to the decisive victory.

McLain accounted for the lone hit, a two-out double during the third inning, off of Jacobvitz, who leveled his record at 2-2.

On the day, Mancine (2-for-5 with two RBI), McLain (2-for-5), and Reese (2-for-6) paced the Wooster offense.

The Scots will make their 2013 home debut on Wednesday against Muskingum University (1-14) at 4 p.m.
