Steve Hagen |
The College of Wooster's Steve Hagen has been named North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon, after throwing the first complete-game shutout of his career in the opening tilt of a doubleheader sweep over Wabash College (April 6).
The junior allowed just six hits to the Little Giants, all singles, and struck out 10 batters without issuing a walk over the nine scoreless innings. He was very efficient, needing just 94 pitches to notch the impressive victory on the mound.
On the year, Hagen leads all Scots' starting hurlers with a 2.92 ERA, and owns a 3-1 record. He pitched another complete game earlier this season – an 11-3 win over Kenyon College (March 29).
The Scots (14-7), winners of five of their last six games, will visit Baldwin Wallace College (16-4) Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
