WOOSTER, Ohio – Keenan White tossed a four-hit shutout with a career-high 14 strikeouts to lead The College of Wooster to a 7-0 victory in game one, and John McLain belted two doubles and a homer during the nightcap to pave the way for a 15-5 win and a sweep of Oberlin College during the squads' North Coast Athletic Conference East Division doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Art Murray Field.

White's masterpiece marked the first complete-game shutout of his career, while the 14 strikeouts tied for the third-most in school history, with the last to reach that mark being fellow lefty Adam Samson versus Allegheny College on March 23, 2007.

Wooster (21-7, 9-1 NCAC East) got all the offense it needed via a two-out rally during the second inning. John McLain sent a sharp single through the left side and promptly stole second base, then Ryan Miner beat out a grounder to shortstop for a single, and with the first baseman hanging on to the ball, McLain sprinted home for the initial run.

Miner quickly moved to second on a stolen base and came around on Bryan Miller's RBI single through the left side. With Miller advancing to second on the throw the previous play, Jarrod Mancine brought him across home plate on a single up the middle to make it 3-0.

The Fighting Scots padded that lead with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. The fourth featured a run-scoring double inside the left-field line by McLain, and the fifth, a Craig Day single to left field that plated a pair of unearned runs.

White kept Oberlin (14-16, 6-6 NCAC East) off the scoreboard for just the second time this season, while extending his perfect record (7-0). The Yeomen only threatened to score twice, getting runners on the corners with one out in the fourth and loading the bases with two outs in the fifth, but he escaped each time via the strikeout.

In the second game, McLain provided most of the early offense via a solo home run in the first inning, driving a 3-2 pitch just beyond the left-center fence, and a double in the third. After legging out the one-out, two-bagger, he scored on Eddie Reese's double, and Day eventually singled home Reese for a 3-0 advantage through three innings.

Oberlin finally lit up the scoreboard in the top of the fifth on Blaise Dolcemaschio's solo shot, only to see Wooster answer with an eight-spot in the home half of the inning. Reese started it with a single on a knubber and added a two-run single up the middle later in the frame, and in between, both Cal Thomay and McLain roped doubles into the gaps to go with a couple of Oberlin errors that aided the cause, all of which resulted in an 11-1 cushion.

That was plenty of offense for Matt Felvey, who improved to 3-2 after working 6.2 innings and yielding just three earned runs (four total) for the quality start. He struck out five without issuing a walk.

In addition to McLain's big offensive day (6-for-8 with four RBI), Day provided five hits (5-for-8 with five RBI) to key the Scots at the plate.

The two teams will play another divisional twinbill on Sunday, starting at noon.
