A two-run sixth inning was enough offense for Keenan White as The College of Wooster's ace improved to 9-0 with a 2-1 victory in Saturday's opener, then Allegheny College scored once in the bottom of the ninth and once in the 10th to upend the Fighting Scots 6-5 and split the squads' first of two North Coast Athletic Conference East Division doubleheaders this weekend at Meadville, Pa.

Despite holding Allegheny (20-12, 9-5 NCAC East) to one unearned run through five innings, White was in danger of suffering his first loss of the season, as Wooster (22-10, 11-3 NCAC East) trailed 1-0.

Bryan Miller began the Scots' rally by taking a hit by pitch to open the sixth and he quickly moved over to second base via a wild pitch. Jarrod Mancine brought him around on an RBI single through the right side, and one out later, he stole second. With two outs, Zac Mathie came through with the clutch hit, a single that plated Mancine and gave Wooster the 2-1 lead.

White overcame a leadoff single in the bottom of the sixth and worked into the seventh before giving way to Steve Hagen, who got the final two outs for his first save of the year, sixth of his career. White's ninth win in as many starts came after yielding just the one run on three hits and one walk.

Thanks to a three-run homer by Eddie Reese in the third inning and single tallies in the fourth and sixth via respective Craig Day and John McLain RBI singles, the Scots took a 5-4 lead into the late innings of game two.

The Gators clawed back into it, though. Their leadoff hitter, Ben Kirchler, started the home half of the ninth with his third hit of the game, a single, and Kyle Davis's ensuing bunt also resulted in a single. Allegheny bunted again, executing a successful sacrifice to move both runners into scoring position, and Joe Killian followed with an RBI groundout to even the score, but Wooster avoided further damage and sent the game into extras.

After the Scots went down quietly in the top of the 10th, another leadoff single, this time courtesy of Mike Pezzone, helped set up the win for the Gators. They moved him into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt and he scored when a Frank Triozzi single was mishandled in left field.

Hagen took the loss (4-3) after entering with one on and one out in the eighth. Matt Felvey had provided Wooster a quality start, allowing three earned runs (four total) on nine hits through six innings.

Cal Thomay was the Scots' leading hitter on the day with a 3-for-7 effort.

The two teams are scheduled to play another twinbill Sunday, starting at noon.
