WOOSTER, Ohio – Pinch hitter Shane Gallagher delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to send The College of Wooster and Heidelberg University into extra innings, and in the 10th, Bryan Miller drove in Billy Farrow, who had doubled, on a one-out hit to lift the Fighting Scots to a 4-3 comeback win Wednesday at a sunny and warm Art Murray Field.

Wooster (26-10) was down 3-2 with one out when Eddie Reese began the ninth-inning rally, ripping a 1-2 pitch that ricocheted off the bag at third over the third baseman and down the line in left for a double. Zac Mathie, who tied a school record with three doubles in the game, then advanced Reese to third via a groundball on the right side. With two outs, Gallagher was sent in, and after getting ahead in the count, the left-hander sliced a 2-1 offering clear over the third baseman and inside the left-field line to even the score for the first time since the first inning.

Scot reliever Jon Rothman got into a jam in the top of the 10th, as Heidelberg (19-19) put runners on the corners with one out. The next hitter sent a grounder to second, and during the play, the umpire ruled runner's interference to end the inning.

Farrow led off the home half of the 10th with a hard shot past the third baseman and down the line for a two-bagger, and an out later, Miller drove the first pitch he saw into the corner in left for the walk-off win. It marked Wooster's first lead of the game.

The 'Berg put up single tallies in the first, third, and fourth innings before the Scots' relief staff shut them down. Five pitchers combined to hold Heidelberg hitless from the fifth inning until Rothman allowed a single during the 10th. While Rothman picked up the win (2-1), the most effective may have been Patrick Boyle, who set down all five he faced.

Wooster's offense prior to the ninth and 10th innings came courtesy of Mathie RBI doubles, as he brought in Jarrod Mancine in the first after Mancine lined a single into right on the initial pitch and Reese in the fifth via a deep drive into the left-center gap.

Mathie's third double came during the seventh, as he became the first Scot to accomplish the feat since Matt Groezinger versus Defiance College on March 12, 2009.

In addition to Mathie's 3-for-4, two-RBI performance, Reese was 2-for-5 as was Miller.

This Saturday and Sunday, the Scots will host a North Coast Athletic Conference Cross-Over Series against Ohio Wesleyan University (17-16, 8-8 NCAC West).
