Wabash College's Clint Scarborough failed to lay down a sacrifice bunt, then delivered a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Little Giants to an 8-6 victory and series win over The College of Wooster on Sunday afternoon at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Wooster (13-6) had split a pair of pitcher's duels with Wabash (11-8) Saturday.

The Fighting Scots used a three-run eighth, highlighted by Joey Gilmore's pinch-hit single that plated two with two outs, to send Sunday's rubber match into extra innings.

Wooster had a base runner on in the ninth, 10th, 11th, and 12th, but could not break the 6-6 tie. The Little Giants also were unable to convert some scoring opportunities, including back-to-back singles to start the bottom of the ninth.

In the 12th, Andrew Rodgers sent a leadoff single through the left side and Wabash attempted to move him into scoring position, but after twice fouling off bunt attempts, Scarborough drove a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall to wrap up the highly-competitive series.

The Little Giants had gained a 2-0 lead through one inning, then the Scots answered with two in the top of the second as Brendan Taylor doubled and scored on a Cal Thomay base knock, and later, Frank Vance, who had walked, came around by way of John McLain's single.

Wabash went back up by two (4-2) with a two-spot in the third, and it remained that way until the seventh inning.

Pinch hitter Shane Gallagher started the seventh with a four-pitch walk, moved to second on a groundout, and scored on pinch hitter Jamie Lackner's opposite field (right) single.

The Little Giants again responded, this time via a two-run bottom of the seventh for a 6-3 advantage.

Wooster's three-run eighth began with a walk to Taylor and Thomay contributed a one-out single. Billy Farrow followed with a pinch-hit single to load the bases, and after a strikeout, Jarrod Mancine drew an RBI walk. Next, Gilmore came through with the biggest hit of the day to that point, singling into right-center to score Thomay and pinch runner Zach Klein with the tying run.

The Scots' closer, Jon Rothman, saw the most extended action of his career (3.1 innings) and was tagged with the loss (1-1), while Wabash's Steven Curry notched the win (1-0) after three scoreless frames.

Offensively, Mancine reached successfully five times in seven plate appearances via a 2-for-4, two-walk, one-hit by pitch effort and Thomay went 3-for-6 to lead Wooster. Trey Fankhauser (3-for-6) and David Oliger (3-for-5) also had three hits for the Little Giants.

The Scots return to action on Tuesday, hosting Baldwin Wallace University (14-8) at 4 p.m.
