Sophomore first baseman Jamie Lackner of The College of Wooster blasted three home runs in a single game and singled and scored the winning run in extra innings to edge North Coast Athletic Conference East Division rival Allegheny College in another, leading to NCAC Player-of-the-Week honors, the league office announced on Monday.

On the week, Lackner batted .538 (7-for-13) and compiled a 1.231 slugging percentage, but it was his milestone against Muskingum University that truly stood out. In Wooster's home opener, the 6-4, 245-pound powerful right-hander smashed three homers, all to different parts of the field – a solo line shot to left in the first, a three-run poke to right in the second, and a towering shot to straightaway center to lead off the sixth – as he went 3-for-5 with five RBI. Lackner became the first Fighting Scot to hit three home runs in a game in five seasons (May 1, 2010).

Wooster opened up NCAC play versus Allegheny Sunday afternoon, and Lackner helped forge a split. Tied 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning of the opener, he found a hole through the left side for a base knock that put runners on first and second with no outs. While the lead runner was forced out on the next play, Lackner came home with what turned out to be the game-winner later in the frame. Overall, Lackner went 4-for-8 with an RBI on the day.
