Tyler Schuch delivered a two-out, two-run single as a pinch hitter to tie Case Western Reserve University 2-2 during the top of the seventh inning, but the Spartans came back with a two-out, run-producing single of their own in the bottom of the ninth to upend No. 12 ranked College of Wooster 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio.

Wooster's (20-5) prolific offense had been held to just three hits entering the seventh, and after its first two of the frame got out, the visitors strung together some. First, Jacob Solomon singled and Chris Fafalios kept the inning alive with a double down the left-field line. Schuch stepped in and plated them both with his base knock, then Kenny Reckart took a hit by pitch to bring up the top of the order, however, Case Western Reserve escaped further trouble.

After Hank Schlueter escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the seventh, the Spartans' pitching staff returned the favor in the top of the eighth right when it appeared the Scots would take their first lead.

During the ninth, singles to right field by Danny Souza and Antonio Damiano, the second coming with two outs, were enough to take the victory. It marked Case Western Reserve's (15-9) third consecutive walk-off win.

On the mound for Wooster, freshman Nanak Saran made his first career start and was solid with just two runs allowed on five hits in five innings. Schlueter tossed a pair of scoreless innings.

Offensively, Jake Fling was the lone Scot with a two-hit game (2-for-5).

The Scots return home for North Coast Athletic Conference East Division action this weekend, hosting Hiram College (7-18, 3-7 NCAC East) in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday, beginning at noon each day.
