The College of Wooster baseball team made North Coast Athletic Conference history this spring, as the Fighting Scots are the first baseball program in the 35-year history of the conference to win four straight championships. Overall, the 2019 NCAC title is Wooster's league-leading 19th.
Wooster opened NCAC play this spring with eight consecutive wins before splitting with Allegheny College on April 21. Wooster bounced back from the split with a sweep of then-No. 9 Denison University on April 27, during which the Scots overtook the Big Red for first-place, a lead that was not relinquished down the stretch.
Due to an incomplete NCAC regular-season schedule, Wooster had to wait for an official announcement from the conference office regarding the league champion per pre-established policies and procedures.
On Monday, the NCAC also announced Wooster (24-10, 13-3 NCAC), Denison (34-6, 14-4 NCAC), Allegheny (21-15, 10-7 NCAC), and Wabash College (21-17, 9-8 NCAC) as the four seeds for this week's league tournament. With respect to Allegheny and Wabash's commencements this weekend, the NCAC will be following its pre-established guidelines pertaining to graduation conflicts. As such, the two-day, double-elimination tournament is set to commence at 10 a.m. on Thursday with Wooster and Wabash squaring off at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.
