Aaron Spidell

The College of Wooster's Aaron Spidell was selected as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III Hitter of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Spidell, this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, strung together a 15-for-25 (.600) week at the dish. The senior outfielder tallied 11 runs, 10 RBI, three walks, two doubles, two stolen bases, and clubbed his first collegiate homer. Spidell had five multi-hit games, including a 4-for-6 showing against longtime Mideast Region nemesis Marietta College, which was ranked 15th in last week's D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 Poll. Spidell contributed three RBI, two runs, and a stolen base during the Fighting Scots' 13-12 win over the Etta Express.

Other key showings for the communication studies major included a 2-for-2 afternoon with two runs scored, two walks, and a home run against Swarthmore College, which was receiving votes in last week's poll, and a 4-for-4 senior day with four runs scored against Alfred State College.

Spidell's the first Scot to earn the NCBWA's Div. III Hitter of the Week award since Kurt Kapferer in 2005. The Scots have had several honorable mention Hitter of the Week selections over the years, most recently Garrett Crum in 2019.
