ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Release

The College of Wooster baseball team was among the recipients of the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2019-20 academic year. Wooster was one of 107 Div. III programs on the list, which was released by the ABCA on Tuesday morning.

The Fighting Scots had a number of noteworthy academic honors this year. Alumnus Harry Witwer-Dukes headlined the individual accolades with his selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America® Team. Fellow alumnus Dan Gail joined Witwer-Dukes on CoSIDA's Academic All-District® Team, and within NCAA Div. III District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio), just 11 student-athletes were honored on that team. Earlier this summer, the North Coast Athletic Conference announced its annual Academic Honor Roll, and Wooster's baseball honorees included sophomore Tyler Chumita, junior Evan Faxon, Gail, and sophomores Alex Gasper, Ben Hines, Dominic Stilliana, and Michael Thomas.

Teams must have a minimum 3.0 GPA during the 2019-20 academic year to qualify, and their coach must be a member of the ABCA.
