The College of Wooster's Evan Faxon threw an absolute gem in the 23rd-ranked Fighting Scots season lid-lifter on Saturday, and the North Coast Athletic Conference selected the senior left-hander as its NCAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Faxon fired a three-hit shutout in Wooster's 1-0 walk-off win against Ohio Wesleyan University. The biochemistry and molecular biology major, who struck out six, had four one-two-three innings and only allowed one Battling Bishop to reach scoring position, with that runner not doing so until the seventh inning. All three hits allowed by Faxon were singles, and thanks to a pair of double plays, he faced two batters over the minimum.

This is Faxon's second career NCAC Pitcher of the Week award. During the 2019 season, he pitched 12 shutout innings spanning April 29-May 5. During that stretch, Faxon pitched 8 1/3 innings against Kenyon College, ironically a 1-0 Wooster victory. He allowed three hits and struck out four Lords. Earlier in that week, Faxon posted 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief against Wittenberg University. Faxon's previous honor marks the last time a Scot was selected as the NCAC's Pitcher of the Week.

Faxon and his Wooster teammates are gearing up for a Mideast Region showdown against Denison University this weekend. Wooster's at Denison for a doubleheader on March 28, and the Big Red visit Art Murray Field on March 29. First pitch on both days is set for noon.
