Senior Salute: Noah Clement

Noah Clement Sidebar Q&A

Throughout the spring and summer, we'll be honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Noah Clement, a business economics major from Bethesda, Maryland. Clement is a member of the baseball team.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I got the opportunity to continue my athletic career at a school that has good academics. My mom thought the campus was beautiful, so at that point, it was a done deal.

Q: What does it mean to you to be a Fighting Scot student-athlete?
A:  It means having the privilege to be part of a prestigious program and held to the highest standard both on and off the field.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I'm fortunate to have so many, but one that really sticks out was the time I participated in a stand-up comedy show on campus. It was a surreal experience and probably one of the best moments of my life.

Q: What's the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A:  Being accepted into a program that is as close as family. I'm very blessed to have met so many amazing people both on and off the field.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I have been a member of Wooster Hillel since I was a first-year!

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. (Melanie) Long because her ability to teach is second-to-none, and more importantly, she genuinely cares about her students. Taking her classes and having her as my Independent Study advisor has really influenced my experience at Wooster, and for that I am very grateful.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people/resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A:  The coaching staff does a great job helping their student-athletes become successful both on and off the field. Doc (head coach Barry Craddock) and Coach (Matthew) Johnson do a great job making sure each student-athlete can reach their full potential and helping guys be prepared for whatever comes next, whether on the diamond or in life.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My Independent Study takes a look at the rising childcare costs in the United States and how it is affecting women employment and fertility. I've created a model that helps illustrate household decisions, such as employment or decisions to have children, when childcare costs are subsidized.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Winning the Mideast Regional and having the opportunity to play in the Div. III "World Series" as a first-year. It was an incredible experience, and being able to travel with those guys is something I will never forget.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year (freshman) self?
A: Just be yourself and have a good time. Take what life gives you. Oh, and try not to lose any teeth!
