Junior Ben Hines has been a hitting machine all season for the 25th-ranked College of Wooster baseball team, and the North Coast Athletic Conference selected the Fighting Scots' star right fielder as its NCAC Hitter of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Hines did something over the weekend only nine other Wooster baseball legends can lay claim to – have a 20-game hitting streak. Hines reached the historic mark with his second-inning RBI single in Sunday's 13-11 win over Hiram College. It's the 13th 20-game hitting streak in program history, as three Wooster legends – W Association Hall of Famers Jake Frank and Trevor Urban and Sean Karpen – had a pair of 20-game hitting streaks during their remarkable careers.

Overall, Hines went 11-for-15 at the dish last week with six runs scored, five RBI, and two stolen bases, as the Scots swept a four-game set from Hiram. His big knock was a three-run triple during a decisive six-run fourth inning in the weekend finale. The speedster legged out two triples last week and he now leads the team with four.

Hines has Wooster's first 20-game hitting streak since alumnus Garrett Crum had a 23-game run during the 2019 season.

Of note, Hines is the fourth Scot to earn NCAC weekly honors this spring.

Wooster (17-5, 8-2 NCAC East Division), winners of nine straight, is slated to be back in action at Kenyon College (3-5, 3-5 NCAC East Division) on Wednesday, April 28. First pitch of the twin bill is slated for 1 p.m.
