Dane Camphausen |
The College of Wooster's Dane Camphausen was a difficult out for Wittenberg University's pitching staff last week, and as a result, the sophomore first baseman is this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Camphausen slashed .750/.800/1.500 during a 2-1 week for the Fighting Scots. The first baseman reached safely in all three contests and capped the week with a 3-for-4 showing with four runs scored, three RBI, a three-run homer, and a walk during an 11-6 win at Wittenberg on Friday. On Thursday, Camphausen hit a pair of base knocks and drew two walks in the nightcap, and he went 1-for-2 with a run scored and walk in the opener.
This is Camphausen's first career NCAC weekly award, and Wooster now has a league-leading three NCAC Athletes of the Week this spring. Overall, the Scots have six honorees, with three athletes and three pitchers selected this year.
Wooster's (22-9) next scheduled contest takes place on Saturday, May 15 at Case Western Reserve University (18-8) at 1 p.m.
