Junior shortstop Tyler Chumita earned his first career North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Chumita went 7-for-17 with nine RBI, three runs, two doubles, a walk, and a stolen base during a 2-2 week for the Fighting Scots. Chumita had three multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games. He knocked in four during Wooster's 13-6 win over Case Western Reserve University on Saturday and went 4-for-8 with five RBI during Sunday's twin bill against the Spartans.

On the season, Chumita's leading the NCAC in average (.478, 54-for-113), hits (54), runs (42), on-base percentage (.573), and he's second in doubles (16) and fourth in RBI (39).

Chumita's the fourth Scot to earn the NCAC Athlete of the Week honor this spring, as he joins junior center fielder Ben Gbur (April 12), junior right fielder Ben Hines (April 26), and sophomore first baseman Dane Camphausen (May 10). It marks the first time since 2009 that a NCAC institution had four NCAC Athletes of the Week in baseball.

Wooster (24-11) is hosting Denison University (21-10) in the NCAC Championship Series this week. Games one and two are slated for Thursday, May 20 at noon from Art Murray Field, and game three, if necessary, is slated for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 21.
