For the fourth time this spring, The College of Wooster baseball team has the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, and this week it's senior Steve Spidell, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Spidell, who made his fourth collegiate start on Sunday, pitched six scoreless innings during Wooster's 10-7 win over Case Western Reserve University. The right-hander struck out three and stranded five Spartans on the bases. In the first inning, junior left fielder Dominic Stilliana helped his pitcher out by throwing out Zack Carinci at third base, while in the sixth, Wooster erased a leadoff single via an inning-ending around-the-horn double play.

Spidell's 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA in 22 1/3 innings since taking over a spot in the starting rotation.

Previous NCAC Pitcher of the Week recipients from Wooster this spring include senior Evan Faxon (March 22, May 10) and senior Jay DiBacco (March 29). No NCAC institution has had four NCAC Pitchers of the Week in a season since at least 2002, which is the first year all-time winners are available on the NCAC website.

Wooster (24-11) is hosting Denison University (21-10) in the NCAC Championship Series this week. Games one and two are slated for Thursday, May 20 at noon from Art Murray Field, and game three, if necessary, is slated for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 21.
