ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award release

For the second straight year, The College of Wooster baseball team was among the America Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award recipients, as announced by the organization recently. Wooster was one of 146 NCAA Div. III programs on this year's list of honorees.

Junior shortstop Tyler Chumita headlined the Fighting Scots' individual academic accolades with his second-team selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team. Earlier this summer, sophomore Owen Barnard, sophomore Dean Brown, Chumita, senior Jay DiBacco, senior Evan Faxon, junior Alex Gasper, junior Ben Hines, sophomore Christian Johnston, sophomore Ian Leon, sophomore Riley McErlean, sophomore Hayden Sherry, junior Dominic Stilliana, and junior Michael Thomas qualified for the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Teams must have a minimum 3.0 GPA during the 2020-21 academic year to qualify, and their coach must be a member of the ABCA.
