Westrick Starts Senior Year with Preseason All-American Honors

Eli Westrick, The College of Wooster's All-American second baseman, remains high on the national radar, as D3baseball.com selected the Fighting Scots' senior as a second-team Preseason All-American on Tuesday.
Westrick earned fourth-team D3baseball.com All-America honors following the 2023 season, and his selection extended the program's current run of All-America picks to eight seasons. An elite defender, Westrick was part of the inaugural American Baseball Coaches Association NCAA Div. III Region 7 All-Defensive Team. He was a consensus All-Region 7 player, earning first-team laurels from D3baseball.com and second-team honors from ABCA/Rawlings following the 2023 season. Westrick earned an elevation to first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honoree.
As a junior, Westrick started every game and led the team with a .418 average (71-for-170), which was 45 percentage points higher than his .373 2022 average. Westrick finished just shy of having the 17th 75-hit season in program history and enters 2024 with the 11th-highest career batting average in program history at .397 (137-for-345). In 2023, Westrick ranked in the top-100 nationally in average and fourth within the NCAC in average and on-base percentage (.497). His .418 average was backed up with a .983 fielding percentage. In the field, Westrick had just three errors in 181 chances and averaged nearly five chances per game.
The two-time All-NCAC performer has 74 RBI, 72 runs, 25 doubles, nine triple, and six home runs over his career. He has a lifetime .972 fielding percentage with nine errors in 319 chances.
Wooster starts its season on Friday, Feb. 23 at Spalding University (Kentucky).
