National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Release

Seniors Connor Allan, Russell Boston, Marcus Bowers, and Hunter Coia of The College of Wooster football team have been granted membership in the 2019 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the NFF announced on Wednesday.

The Hampshire Honor Society is annually made up of seniors from all collegiate divisions who were a starter or significant contributor and achieved a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Allan, a business economics major with a 3.38 GPA, served as a key slot receiver for the Fighting Scots' during his four years in a Wooster uniform. Allan's 68 career receptions went for 966 stripes and five touchdowns. He logged 29 receptions for 418 yards as a junior.

Boston, a biochemistry and molecular biology major with a 3.59 GPA, was among the recipients of a $2,000 postgraduate scholarship from the Mike Cleary Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the NFF this spring. Boston, who was a semifinalist for the NFF's prestigious Campbell Trophy, amassed 979 yards on 102 career receptions, six of which went for touchdowns. Boston's been accepted to Duke University School of Medicine, where he'll begin pursuing a master's of biomedical sciences degree this fall.

Bowers, a psychology major with a 3.48 GPA, started for three and a half years on defense and finished his career with second-team all-conference laurels. During his four years at Wooster, Bowers earned a prestigious Gilman Scholar award, which enabled him to study abroad in New Zealand. He's accepted a position as a mortgage loan banker at Quicken Loans, and will be working in Detroit, Michigan, upon graduation.

Coia, a mathematics major, started for three years on defense and registered 123 career tackles and five fumble recoveries. As a senior, the defensive back tied for seventh nationally with three fumble recoveries. One of the leaders on the team in community service, Coia was selected as the College's nominee for the Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team®. Upon graduation, Coia will be looking to complement his mathematics degree with an engineering one, and he's still finalizing where he'll further his education at.

Over the last four years, 17 Wooster student-athletes have earned membership in the society.
