Adam Clark, The College of Wooster football team's starting left guard, is among the semifinalists for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy® Presented by Mazda, college football's premier scholar-athlete award, as announced by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

The 185 semifinalists nationwide cover all levels of college football (NCAA FBS, FCS, Div. II, Div. III, and NAIA) and that group will be narrowed down to 12-14 finalists on October 30. Each of the finalists receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class and travels to New York City for the NFF Annual Awards Dinner on December 10.

Clark has started every career game at left guard and earned honorable mention All-North Coast Athletic Conferences honors as a junior. As a sophomore, Clark was one of the key blockers for an offense that broke or matched 28 school records. Wooster's offense has finished in the top-30 nationally in passing in three straight years.

Academically, the education and history major sports a 3.31 grade-point average. He's an active member in Wooster's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society) and Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education), and is looking at the history of the labor movement with a focus on 1950-80 when Jimmy Hoffa and mob and crime bosses had a major control of unions throughout the country for his independent study project.
