September 2019 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List Release

The College of Wooster's Lake Barrett was among the 37 non-Football Bowl Subdivision placekickers named to September's Fred Mitchell Award Watch List, as announced by the award committee on Friday.

Barrett didn't miss a kick in September, as he was 4-for-4 on field goals and knocked all six extra-point tries through the uprights. Among NCAA Div. III kickers with at least four field goal tries in September, Barrett was one of 14 who didn't miss. His September performances were headlined by a 2-for-2 afternoon in the field goal department at Wittenberg University. In that contest, the freshman connected from 25 and 37 yards out.

In the community, Barrett worked a summer camp where he supervised 3- and 4-year-olds. He's worked with youth in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, who are interested in kicking and assisted with preschool recess while attending the Hammond School.

The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate placekicker among more than 750 non-FBS football teams. A selection committee reviews nominees and selects the recipient based on excellence on the football field and in the community. Each month during the season, the committee solicits worthy candidates from college athletic communication professionals and distributes a Watch List for the award.
