CoSIDA Academic All-District® Release (Football)

Eric Kraus, a junior linebacker on The College of Wooster football team, was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the national organization on Thursday. Kraus will now be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

The biochemistry and molecular biology major, who sports a perfect 4.0 GPA, is in his first full season as a starting linebacker. Kraus is currently second on the team with 49 tackles, and has really upped his output of late with 20 tackles over the Fighting Scots' last two games. His contributions were instrumental in helping Wooster post a pair of signature wins this season. First, he tallied a then-season-high nine tackles and had one of Wooster's seven sacks during a 24-10 win over Wabash College, in what marked the Scots' first victory over the Little Giants since 2004. Then, he accumulated nine tackles during a 16-14 win over then-North Coast Athletic Conference-leading Ohio Wesleyan University.

Off the gridiron, Kraus is one of several Wooster football players who are actively involved with the campus organization Men Working for Change, which advocates for the prevention of sexual violence on campus and serves as an awareness group about ways to prevent sexual assaults through seminars and other planned events.

This past summer, Kraus shadowed physical therapists at East Suburban Sports Medicine Center in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and he's involved with the College's health coach program.

Within NCAA Div. III District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio), just 29 student-athletes were honored, and Kraus was one of three linebackers.
