Big Opening Night Nets Pardi D3football.com Honor

D3football.com Team of the Week - 2022 Week 1

D3football.com Preseason All-American Matt Pardi backed up his credentials for the start-of-season honor, as The College of Wooster football team's senior punter was selected to D3football.com's Team of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Pardi averaged 51.0 yards over three punts in Saturday's season-opening 33-25 win at Geneva College. He fired off a 52-yard punt in the final minute of the victory, as Wooster protected an eight-point lead. In the third quarter, Pardi flipped the field, as the Fighting Scots faced fourth-and-11 from their own 25-yard line. The biology major booted a 56-yard punt. His first punt of the season went for 45 yards.

This is Pardi's second time earning D3football.com Team of the Week honors. He previously was recognized following Wooster's 2021 win at Wabash College in part for getting off a 55-yard punt to Wabash's 20-yard line in the final 30 seconds.

Wooster (1-0, 0-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) opens league play on Saturday, September 10 at Hiram College (0-1, 0-0 NCAC). Kickoff is set for noon.
