Hissong Earns Fourth D3football.com Team of the Week Award
Senior tight end now tied for most selections in program history
D3football.com Team of the Week - 2022 Week 2
Cole Hissong, The College of Wooster's first-team D3football.com Preseason All-American, collected his fourth career D3football.com Team of the Week award on Tuesday morning.
The Fighting Scots' star tight end had eight receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 49-21 win at Hiram College. Hissong's touchdown came from 10 yards out in the fourth quarter, and the education and history major extended for the pylon from about three yards out. The touchdown marked senior quarterback Mateo Renteria's 65th passing one of his career, moving him into a tie with alumnus Gary Muntean for the top spot in program history.
Hissong, who has the most touchdown receptions among tight ends in program history, upped his count to 16. He now has six career 100-yard games.
Hissong was a three-time D3football.com Team of the Week selection in 2021. His four career selections are tied with All-American Tony Sutton, one of the top running backs in NCAA Div. III history, for the most within Wooster's program. Hissong is Wooster's second honoree this year. Senior punter Matt Pardi earned the award for his play at Geneva College on September 3.
Wooster (2-0, 1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) hosts Wabash College (1-1, 0-0 NCAC) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 as part of Black & Gold Weekend.
