D3football.com Team of the Week - November 1, 2022

The College of Wooster's Cole Hissong is now a D3football.com record holder, as the Fighting Scots' senior earned his fifth-career D3football.com Team of the Week honor – the most by a tight end – on Tuesday morning.

Hissong caught the winning 7-yard touchdown in Saturday's remarkable 44-43 come-from-behind win over archrival Wittenberg University with :11 remaining in the contest. The tight end found the open spot amongst an ambush of Tigers, and a scrambling Mateo Renteria eluded two pass rushers prior to finding his favorite target.

Wooster, which overcame a 33-7 third-quarter deficit for its first win over Wittenberg since 2008, saw Hissong turn nine receptions into 102 yards for his second 100-yard game of the year. He now has seven career 100-yard games.

The seventh-grade social studies student teacher at Green Middle School is the Scots' all-time leader in receptions (138), receiving yards (1,954), and receiving touchdowns (18) among tight ends. He is fifth overall in program history in receptions and receiving yards and sixth in receiving touchdowns.

Wooster's All-American earned his fourth career D3football.com Team of the Week honor on September 13, 2022, and he was the sixth Div. III tight end to be a four-time selection. Two former Div. III standouts are tied for the most all-time selection among all positions at seven.

Wooster is back in action on Saturday, November 5 with a 1 p.m. home game against Denison University (6-2, 4-2 NCAC).
