Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: Wooster was one of the only schools where I could play athletics while earning a high-quality education. The education program at Wooster is one of the best.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means a lot. Putting on my uniform makes me appreciate all those who came before me and contributed to something bigger than myself.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I enjoyed being a part of some historic moments in Wooster history, such as the 26-point comeback against Wittenberg University, beating Wabash College on the road in 2021, and finishing in second-place at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships for the first time in over 20 years in 2022 in track and field. I also loved being here when the new Lowry Center opened, the new mascot was announced, and when the football field and track were redone.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: Contributing to a program that is bigger than myself and having an opportunity to spend time with my friends every day.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I participated on the Moot Court team, and I was the secretary for the John Stuart Mill Forum, which is the campus civil discourse and civic engagement club. I also was one of my team's representatives for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Ryan Ozar because he made me feel welcomed in the Education department, and he has given me confidence that I will succeed after I graduate.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: All my coaches have given me confidence in myself and allowed me to have success in academics and athletics. Specifically, Coach Dennis Rice has trusted me and mentored me when I was struggling to adjust in track and field. Also, my friends have given me advice and feedback to make myself the best I can be.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am studying the effects of social-emotional learning in the classroom by applying various social-emotional learning strategies during my student teaching during the spring semester.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: For my education classes, having an opportunity to spend time in the field with students and teachers was great for experience and boosting my confidence. I had a tutoring job last year and I enjoyed having an opportunity to help struggling students succeed.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Take each semester one day at a time and enjoy the academic and athletic grind. Spend more time with the people around you because you do not know when the last time you see them will be.
