Our "Senior Salute" series continues with Tyler Ellsworth, a business economics major from Ravenna, Ohio. Ellsworth is a member of the football team.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend Wooster because it was close to home and gave me the opportunity to continue my athletic career.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means taking pride in everything I do knowing I am representing the College and the team everywhere I go.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Some of my favorite memories at the College are I.S. Monday, running down the hill for home games, and attending basketball games.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part is having a coaching staff that cares about you on a personal level and wants you to succeed outside of football.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am involved in Inter-Greek Council and president of Phi Sigma Alpha fraternity.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Coach Brian Kooser because he brought back my love for the game of football. He coached in a way that pushed me to be a better player and teammate.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: Dr. Mehri Yavari because she was a major part in why I progressed significantly in my writing skills. Before her classes, I had some challenges writing. After her courses, I was able to write at a much higher level.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My I.S. project focuses on affordable housing and its impact on cities crime rates.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I was able to travel with the team out of state for a few games. Those were amazing experiences. The time I had with my teammates on the road was unforgettable.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: I would tell my first-year self to enjoy the good times you are having because they will fly by faster than you think.
