Lynch scored the game-tying goal with 8:47 remaining in
regulation as well as the game-winner 2:07 into overtime, keying
The College of Wooster's 3-2 comeback victory over host Kenyon
College in a match-up that featured two teams which were undefeated
in North Coast Athletic Conference play entering Saturday's action
at Gambier, Ohio.
Kenyon (5-5, 4-1 NCAC) had bolted out to a 2-0 halftime lead,
behind a pair of scores just 3:06 apart fairly late in the opening
stanza.
Wooster (8-2, 5-0 NCAC) began the second with a flurry of shots on
the Ladies' goal and finally got one through, as Eileen Barrer
connected on her eighth goal of the season. It was still 2-1 when
the time ticked down under 10:00, but shortly thereafter, Lynch
found an opening for her eighth goal of the year. Neither of the
Scots' scores in regulation was assisted.
Playing just its second overtime game of the season, Wooster
quickly fired off two shots and the second was true, with Lynch
poking in a ball off an assist from Stephanie
Standera.
Statistically, the Scots owned the advantage in the shot
department (16-12) and in penalty corners (9-6), while Kenyon
goalie Karen Thompson kept her squad in it with 10 saves. On the
other end of the field, Madalyn Myers
made four saves to help preserve the win.
Wooster will play the other undefeated team in league play, Ohio
Wesleyan University (7-2, 5-0 NCAC), on Tuesday at home at 4:30
p.m.
