The College of Wooster field hockey team was shutout for the
first time this season on Sunday, as DePauw University took a 3-0
decision during the squads' non-conference contest at Greencastle,
Ind.
Wooster (10-5) had entered the game averaging 3.57 goals, but
DePauw (9-2) held down the Fighting Scots' attack throughout.
Wooster wound up with just five shots.
The two defenses matched each other through a scoreless first
half. Early in the second, the Tigers got on the board with a Sarah
Riffle unassisted goal and she would add another one around the
midway point. DePauw added an insurance score late.
For the Scots, freshman goalie Madalyn Myers
registered eight saves.
Wooster, which also lost Saturday at Wittenberg University, is
hoping to bounce back this Wednesday when it hosts North Coast
Athletic Conference foe Denison University (3-11, 2-6 NCAC).
