Scots Roll Past Transylvania 6-1 to Improve to 3-0

The College of Wooster overwhelmed Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., on Sunday, scoring three goals in each half en route to a 6-1 victory during non-conference field hockey action.

It took Wooster (3-0) just 6:18 to light up the scoreboard, as Brittany Montgomery netted the first of her two goals on the day. Amanda Artman gave the Fighting Scots a two-goal cushion approximately 10 minutes later, and the two teams exchanged tallies late in the half, with Wooster's coming off the stick of Maddie Hart, all of which made it a 3-1 game at the break.

The Scots quickly erased any thoughts of a Transylvania comeback early in the second, notching two goals during the opening 10 minutes. Eileen Barrer had the first and then came Montgomery's second just 2:30 later. Freshman Isabelle Howes tacked on her first collegiate goal late in the going for the final five-goal margin.

Defensively, Madalyn Myers turned in six saves to help preserve the win for Wooster.

The Scots are scheduled to return to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Thursday, as they'll visit Oberlin College (0-1, 0-0 NCAC) that afternoon.
