Artman’s Seventh Career Hat Trick Leads Wooster to 7-0 Rout

For the seventh time in her career Amanda Artman recorded a hat trick, this time rattling the cage three times over a seven-minute span in the first half, leading The College of Wooster to a 7-0 rout on Thursday at Oberlin College.

From the opening whistle the Fighting Scots (4-0, 2-0 NCAC) pushed down on the pedal and didn't let up, outshooting Oberlin 31-2 in the game, with 21 shots being struck before halftime. Junior Eileen Barrer put Wooster on the scoreboard early when Clare Nelson-Johnson found her on a cross as she was streaking towards the goal at the 6:25-mark.

Just over one minute later, Artman would rebound her own missed shot and then beat the goalie to score at the 7:51-mark. She connected on her second goal in the 11th minute on an assist from Barrer that put the Scots ahead 3-0. Barrer tallied her second score of the game at 12:58, and Artman completed the hat trick on an unassisted shot at 14:34 that gave Wooster a 5-0 advantage.

In the second half, sophomore Maddie Hart recorded her fourth goal of the season, launching a shot into the net that grazed just inches inside the post. First-year Laura German closed out the offensive onslaught with a score in the game's final minute to seal the 7-0 win.

The Scots will look to continue their unbeaten streak this Saturday when they play NCAC rival Earlham College on the road at 1 p.m.
