Field Hockey Falls in Familiar Fashion, 2-1 to Randolph-Macon

For the second day in a row, The College of Wooster field hockey team came back to score a second half game-tying goal but didn't come away with the win, this time losing a closely-contested battle with Randolph-Macon College 2-1 on Sunday at Ashland, Va.

Junior Monica Jenkins would put the Yellow Jackets (3-8) ahead 1-0 midway through the first half on a Mary McCarthy assist that came on a penalty corner. Randolph-Macon barely edged out Wooster (9-3) in shots (20-19) and corner attempts (9-7) in the game, but Jenkins' fourth goal of the season would be enough to keep the Yellow Jackets in control until early in the second half.

The Scots would knot the game up when senior Brittany Montgomery rattled the cage on a dish from sophomore Maddie Hart at the 42:37 mark. Montgomery had assisted on the game-tying goal in Saturday's loss to St. Mary's College of Maryland, and now has scored 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists) on the season.

The game would remain a 1-1 tie until 7:13 remained, when Jenkins scored her second of the afternoon to hand Wooster its second loss in as many days.

Goalkeeper Madalyn Myers had another nice outing in goal, making nine saves while providing the Scots the opportunity to stay in the game.

Wooster will head back home to host a North Coast Athletic Conference tilt against Oberlin College on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
