WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster closed out the regular season in style with a 5-1 win over Oberlin College on Saturday morning at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (14-5, 10-4 North Coast Athletic Conference) set the tone from the get-go starting with a strong shot by senior Claire Russ that was turned aside by Oberlin (1-17, 0-14) 'keeper Kennedy Kline. Senior Maeven Barry tracked down the rebound and fired a strong cross that sophomore Grace O'Leary buried into the cage for her second goal of the season in the third minute.

Barry awareness in the 13th minute resulted in the senior's fifth goal of the season. Leading up to the score, Barry corralled Oberlin's errant clear attempt and fired a quick, hard shot into the cage.

Wooster's bread and butter – sophomores Caitlyn O'Connor and Sydney Schuster – accounted for the next two goals. O'Connor bumped the lead out to three in the 48th minute with a rebound goal. Just over eight minutes later, Barry beat an Oberlin defender down the field, crossed the ball to Schuster, who spun, and found the back of the cage for the 20th time this season. Noteworthy, that made Schuster the Scots' first 20-goal scorer since Clare Nelson-Johnson scored 24 in 2012.

Oberlin's Amelia Huang secured the rebound on her own missed shot attempt and tapped in the Yeowomen's lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute.

Wooster answered just over four minutes later when senior Rose Taylor set up junior Harriet Sudduth, who dribbled in and scored her fifth goal of the season.

Wooster finished with a near 5-to-1 edge in shots (29-6), and the Scots won the penalty corner battle 10-1.

Kline logged a game-high 17 saves for the Yeowomen, while Wooster's Lida LeVine earned the start for "senior day" and stopped three shots.

Wooster will host Kenyon College (9-8, 8-6 NCAC) in the NCAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Game time is set for 3 p.m. Top-seeded Denison University (16-2, 14-0 NCAC) hosts Wittenberg University (7-10, 7-7 NCAC) in the other semifinal. The two winners advance to Saturday's championship game, which will take placed at the highest remaining seed.
