GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The College of Wooster field hockey team fought back from two early goals but could not complete the comeback in overtime, falling 3-2 to DePauw University on Saturday.

DePauw scored two goals in the first six minutes of the game. Maddie DeAscentis scored in the third minute, and Alexa Stein followed with a goal in the sixth.

Wooster was lucky to get one back before the end of the period when Caitlyn O'Connor scored in the 10th minute thanks to an assist from Harriet Sudduth.

The score remained the same until the fourth when Wooster's Sydney Schuster knotted the game up in the 48th minute.

Then, DePauw leading scorer Kate Milner scored the game-winning goal just two minutes into the first overtime.

Offense was heavy in this one as DePauw outshot the Scots 31-24. Wooster was able to stabilize after seeing 14 shots in the first period.

Katie Shideler made 11 saves in the loss.

This was not a North Coast Athletic Conference game so Wooster drops to 2-3, and DePauw improves to 3-3.

Wooster returns home Sunday when they host the University of Concordia Wisconsin.
