The College of Wooster field hockey team suffered another close loss, falling to Washington & Jefferson College 1-0 in double overtime on Wednesday.

Wooster, who is now 3-5 overall, has lost by one goal in four of their five defeats and lose their second overtime game of the season. This also was the third time they've been shutout this season.

Offense was hard to come by for both teams as Washington & Jefferson outshot Wooster 14-3 in the game. The Presidents took advantage of the 7-on-7 overtime periods, outshooting the Scots 8-0 after regulation.

The game-deciding goal came in the 77th minute off a penalty corner. After Wooster stopped one corner, the Presidents were awarded another, and that's when Madeline Hubbard found Reghan Dunn atop the circle for the score.

Washington & Jefferson ended up with 10 penalty corners in the game, while Wooster did not receive one.

Junior goalkeeper Katie Shideler did her part with six saves. Four saves came in the second overtime alone as she had to make a number of game-extending efforts.

Wooster had just two shots on goal, one each from Caitlyn O'Connor and Sydney Schuster.

The Scots will now prepare for their North Coast Athletic Conference season opener. They travel to Wittenberg on Saturday - a team they defeated 4-2 in the season opener in a non-conference game.
