Schuster Named to NFHCA Senior Team

Syd Schuster College of Wooster Field Hockey NFHCA Div. III Senior Team

The College of Wooster's Syd Schuster was selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Team, as announced by the coaching organization on Monday afternoon.

Schuster, a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection this fall, became the program's 15th four-time honoree and the first since 2019 alumna Rose Taylor last week. Schuster finished second on this year's team in points (17) and goals (7), and passed out three assists, a total third on the squad.

The sociology major had a breakout year as a sophomore. That year, she earned first-team NFHCA all-region and first-team All-NCAC honors. In 2018, Schuster led the NCAC with 47 points and 21 goals. She scored at least once in 14 of Wooster's 21 games. Her 21 goals marked the seventh-most in single-season program history, while her 47 points were eighth.

Schuster finished her career with 100 points, the ninth-most in program history. Her 42 career goals are tied for the seventh-most at Wooster.

Schuster is Wooster's first selection since alumna Erika Womack in 2018. Traditionally the seniors selected play in the NFHCA Senior Game. However, due to COVID there is no game taking place this year.
