Wooster’s Academic Success Recognized by NFHCA

The College of Wooster field hockey team earned the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Team Award for the 17th time in the last 18 years, while 11 Fighting Scots earned individual honors in a series of academic releases sent out by the coaching organization over the last three weeks.

Junior Zoë Semersky headlined the individual accolades with a third NFHCA National Scholars of Distinction certificate, while sophomore Maddie Peek is now a two-time NFHCA National Scholars of Distinction honoree.

The duo were joined on the National Academic Squad by junior Lucy Agurkis, sophomore Delaney Gross, junior Clare Leithauser, junior Jill Murray, sophomore Olivia Nengel senior Caitlyn O'Connor, sophomore Ciara O'Connor, junior Lucy Segal, and senior Katie Thompson.

The NFHCA's Scholars of Distinction is awarded to student-athletes who maintain a minimum 3.90 cumulative GPA through the first semester of the 2021-22 school year, while a 3.30 cumulative GPA is needed for National Academic Squad membership. Teams must turn in a collective GPA of at least 3.00 for the fall semester to qualify for the National Academic Team Award.
