Justin Hallowell of The College of Wooster was selected as the D3hoops.com national Rookie of the Year, the Web site announced, along with the release of its 2008-09 All-America Teams.

Franks Third-Team All-Region, Hallowell Rookie of the Year
Wooster’s Ian Franks was honored as one of the top NCAA Div. III men’s basketball players within the region, as D3hoops.com placed the sophomore guard on to its All-Great Lakes Region Third Team, and the Web site also tabbed the Fighting Scots’ Justin Hallowell as the Great Lakes Rookie of the Year.

Wooster Honors Memory of Corey Cline With NCAC Tourney Title
Wooster completed the mission that it set at the beginning of an emotional week, winning the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship to honor the memory of Corey Cline, as the Fighting Scots outscored Wabash College 16-5 during the final six minutes of Saturday night’s finals’ match-up to earn a hard-fought 84-72 win.

Wabash, Wooster Both Post Commanding Wins in NCAC Semis
On what would have been Corey Cline’s fourth birthday, Wooster continued to honor his memory by playing some of its best basketball of the season, putting together a 20-1 stretch during the first half and rolling past Kenyon College 89-71.

Wooster honored Marty Bidwell’s final regular season game at Timken Gymnasium by trouncing Earlham College 95-54, and along with the “Senior Day” festivities, the Fighting Scots had another reason to celebrate as they clinched the 2008-09 North Coast Athletic Conference championship.

Tying 3-Pointer Allows Wooster to Survive Double-Overtime Test
Justin Hallowell of Wooster knocked down a long-distance 3-pointer, estimated to be from the 28-to-30 foot range, at the end of regulation to tie it 77-77, then the Fighting Scots survived Denison University’s last-second attempt at the close of the first overtime before they finally pulled away late in the second overtime for a wild 102-92 victory.
